Guardiola must give these 3 Man City players a chance against Swansea

Man City have got off to a dream start under the guise of new manager Pep Guardiola, with eight wins from a possible eight in all competitions, their best ever start to a season.

On Wednesday night they will be looking to make eight nine as they visit Swansea in the third round of the EFL Cup as they enter the competition for the first time this season.

With Premier League, Champions League and, later on, FA Cup football all on the calendar in Guardiola’s office, the League Cup offers the former Barcelona boss the perfect chance to rotate his side and see what all his other players have to offer.

The Sky Blues boss has already stated that he will not be starting outcast midfielder, Yaya Toure, unless he apologises to the club, but who else could he bring into the side to impress on Wednesday night?

Here are THREE players that Guardiola should throw into the first team at the Liberty Stadium…

Willy Caballero

The Argentine shot-stopper came into the side to replace the outcast Joe Hart, and did himself no harm when called upon.

However, since the arrival of Claudio Bravo, who made a less than impressive debut against Man United, the 34-year-old has fallen back down the pecking order. The former Malaga man deserves his chance to step up to the plate once again on Wednesday and give his case for being back in the first team.

Fernando

The Brazilian has made just two appearances off the bench for the Sky Blues so far this season, as Pep’s new system requires just one holding midfielder, a role in which Fernando’s counterpart, Fernandinho, has been shining.

With his side competing on all four fronts this season, Guardiola will need his whole squad fit and ready to play, Wednesday night is the perfect time to give the 29-year-old his chance from the start.

The former Schalke youngster has recovered from the hamstring injury which saw him miss the start of the season, but is yet to make his full debut having only been used as a substitute since his return.

The German international will be desperate to get a chance from the off at The Liberty as he looks to force his way into Pep’s first team thoughts.
