Guardiola should give these 3 Man City players a chance in the FA Cup this weekend

Pep Guardiola takes his in-form Manchester City side to Championship high-flyers Huddersfield Town on Saturday for an FA Cup fifth round clash.

The Citizens have won their last three Premier League matches to move up to second in the table, and they are now within eight points of leaders Chelsea after beating Bournemouth 2-0 on Monday night, coupled with the Blues’ 1-1 draw at Burnley the day before.

With just one defeat in all competitions in 2017, City certainly seem to be heading in the right direction, although they face a tricky test on Saturday at the John Smith’s Stadium given Huddersfield’s recent good run of form.

David Wagner’s side are the form team in the Championship having won their last five matches, with their last-gasp 3-2 victory on Tuesday against Rotherham moving them to within four points of the automatic promotion places.

With just two home defeats all season in the league, it is sure to be a tough test for City, especially as Guardiola is likely to make a few changes to his starting eleven as they face Monaco in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Thus, here are THREE City players who deserve a chance against Huddersfield on Saturday…

Fabian Delph

With their Champions League last 16 clash against Monaco coming up in midweek, Guardiola is likely to make some changes to his starting line-up against Huddersfield.

Thus, England international Fabian Delph could be in line for his third start of the campaign, the second of which came in the fourth round of the FA Cup against Crystal Palace last month.

The 27-year-old struggled with injury for much of the first half of the campaign, although started the season in and around the first team, making two Premier League substitute appearances, and starting and scoring the winner in their Champions League qualifying win over Steaua Bucharest.

Delph is clearly a talented midfielder, and there’s no better way than getting back to full fitness by playing competitive matches, so expect him to line up in City’s midfield on Saturday.

Jesus Navas

Winger Jesus Navas has made just one start in 2017, but could be in line for a recall against Huddersfield on Saturday.

Guardiola has placed his faith in the attacking trio of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, and Gabriel Jesus in the last few weeks, but with Monaco coming up in the Champions League, it’s unlikely that any of them will start against the Terriers – Jesus certainly won’t, as he broke his metatarsal against Bournemouth.

Thus, Guardiola will need other quick, attacking options to take on a confident Huddersfield team on Saturday, and with 31-year-old Navas having only appeared twice since the turn of the year, and not at all in February, the Spaniard will be fresh and ready to go at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

Nolito

Gabriel Jesus’ injury in the win over Bournemouth looks set to rule him out for some time, so Guardiola will need all of his attacking players to chip in with goals over the coming weeks.

And one man that could come in from the cold is Nolito, who moved to the Etihad Stadium last summer for just under £14 million.

The Spanish international has managed just ten starts in all competitions for the Citizens this term, the last of which coming all the way back in their 3-0 victory over Hull on Boxing Day.

The 30-year-old bagged an assist in the 5-0 FA Cup third round win over West Ham last month to outline his attacking credentials, yet with Sergio Aguero now likely to lead the line over the next few weeks, and his past history of injury concerns, Guardiola is unlikely to risk him against Huddersfield.

Thus, Nolito could return to the starting line-up on Saturday.
