How would Manchester United’s squad look with four new summer signings? The Express take a look at the potential United squad for next season.

After starting to build some momentum under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before the Coronavirus outbreak, it is a vitally important summer for Manchester United from a transfer perspective.

If Ole and chief executive Ed Woodward get it right again, like they did in January and last summer, the Old Trafford outfit have a chance of becoming Premier League title challengers once again.

Here’s how the Express think Ole’s squad could shape up.

Goalkeepers: De Gea, Henderson, Romero

If United were to take the option to bring Dean Henderson back to the club (currently on loan at Sheffield United), it would be safe to say they would have the best squad of first team keepers in the Premier League, if not the world!

Henderson has been in unstoppable form all season for the Blades and was on the cusp of a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2020.

However, will making this decision rock the boat for David de Gea? It’s a tough call for Ole to make.

Defenders: Maguire, Lindelof, Bailly, De Ligt, Tuanzebe, Wan-Bissaka, Dalot, Shaw, Williams

Interesting selection given by the Express. The obvious stand-out inclusion is that of Juventus and Holland international Matthijs De Ligt who has been rumoured to be joining the Red Devils this summer, with Paul Pogba going the other way.

The newspaper has also speculated that United would be prepared to let some defenders go in the way of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo.

Midfielders: Fred, McTominay, Matic, Fernandes, Mata, Grealish

Well, well, well could it actually happen? Whether or not to sell World Cup winner Paul Pogba is likely to be the biggest decision Ole has to make in his managerial career with United. On his day, he is simply unplayable but how often does that day come around?

The Express have gone down the option of United signing Jack Grealish, a player who has performed wonders for Aston Villa this season and is being watched by many Premier League clubs.

Forwards: Rashford, Martial, James, Ighalo, Greenwood, Sancho, Dembele

No Sanchez and Jadon Sancho and Moussa Dembele signed, given current form United fans would be delighted with that outcome at the end of August.

The Express have also noted that Odion Ighalo will remain at Old Trafford, a list of forwards which gives them so much more strength-in-depth than they have had available this season.
