Huddersfield Town have reportedly become the frontrunners to land New Zealand international striker Chris Wood this summer, according to The Sun.

The Terriers, who defeated Reading in the 2017 Championship play-off final on penalties at Wembley Stadium last month to seal promotion to the Premier League, are among a long list of potential top-flight suitors for the lethal Leeds United forward ahead of the 2017-18 term.

The 25-year-old, who has 48 international caps for his country, scored 30 goals and provided four assists in 48 appearances in all competitions for the Championship outfit last season.

Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner.

Wood, who arrived at Elland Road back in July 2015 following his £3m move from Leicester City, has netted an impressive 43 times in 85 games overall for The Whites.

The report suggests David Wagner’s newly promoted side are surprise favourites to sign the New Zealander, who is valued at around £15m, although Crystal Palace, Southampton, Stoke City, Swansea City, West Brom and West Ham United are all also interested in his services.
