If Swansea City had a 2015 Ballon d’Or nominee…

Ashley Williams

Ashley Williams captained Wales towards qualification for next summer’s 2016 UEFA European Championships in France.

Leader of men for both club and country; Ashley Williams has been instrumental throughout Swansea City’s history in the Premier League. The 31-year-old captained the Welsh outfit to eighth in the English top-flight last season with 56 points, their highest position and points haul in a Premier League campaign and their second highest finish in the top division of all-time. Despite Garry Monk’s men slipping to 14th in the table after last night’s 1-0 defeat to Stoke City; another loss that sees Swansea now winless in their last five league games, Williams has been the club’s most consistent and outstanding performer throughout the calendar year. The Wales skipper played 3,330 minutes of Premier League football last term, only missing the final day defeat at Crystal Palace, to signify his importance in the Swans’ record-breaking season in the Premier League. Furthermore; Williams can cap off a remarkable 2015 by celebrating the fact that Wales have qualified for next summer’s UEFA European Championship finals in France after finishing runners-up in Group B.
