Manchester United have been linked with a staggering £70m raid for Argentina international striker Gonzalo Higuain this summer, according to the Sunday People (via the Mirror).

The 13-time Premier League champions, who defeated rock-bottom Aston Villa 1-0 on Saturday at Old Trafford to confirm the Villans’ relegation to the Championship, are thought to be chasing Napoli’s in-form forward once the current 2015-16 campaign has concluded.

The 28-year-old, who has 56 international caps for his country, has scored a sensational 32 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit so far this season, including three assists.

Higuain, who joined the Italian club from Real Madrid back in 2013, is thought to be incoming boss Jose Mourinho’s top transfer target this summer.

The report suggests that the former Chelsea boss is set to replace Louis van Gaal as United manager, with Mourinho already telling his close friends that he is Old Trafford bound.

However Napoli have slapped a whopping £95m valuation on their prized asset following his impressive goalscoring streak this term.
