Manchester United are still reportedly in the race to sign Brazil international defender Fabinho, according to the Independent.
The Premier League side, who finished sixth in the English top-flight last campaign, but defeated Ajax in the 2017 UEFA Europa League final to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next term, are thought to be keen on luring the AS Monaco star to Old Trafford this summer.
The 23-year-old, who has four international caps for his country, scored 12 goals and provided six assists in 55 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 champions last season.
Fabinho, who once joined Real Madrid on loan from Rio Ave, has netted 23 times in 186 games overall for the French outfit following his arrival back in July 2013, which included back-to-back initial season-long loan spells.
Despite The Red Devils set to bring in defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic from Chelsea in a deal worth around £35m this transfer window, the report suggests United boss Jose Mourinho is still keen on Fabinho, who was deployed as a defensive midfielder for Monaco last term.
However, he is fully capable of starring at right-back, a position which has been filled by predominant winger Antonio Valenca at The Theatre of Dreams under the ‘Special Ones’ reign.
