Manchester United have reportedly identified Germany international star Toni Kroos as a main transfer target this summer, according to the Independent.

The Premier League side, who visit Sevilla on Wednesday night in the last-16 of the UEFA Champions League, have been linked with luring the Real Madrid midfielder to Old Trafford at the end of the 2017-18 campaign to replace loyal servant Michael Carrick at the club.

The 28-year-old, who has 80 international caps for his country, has scored four goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances in all competitions for the defending La Liga champions so far this season.

Kroos, who arrived at the Bernabeu back in July 2014 following his move from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, has netted 11 goals in 176 games overall for Madrid.

The report claims the German gem is Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho’s main midfield target this summer, with 36-year-old fellow central midfielder Carrick retiring at the end of the season.

Kroos is contracted at Madrid until June 2022, and is valued at around £72m, by transfermarkt.
