Manchester City can secure top spot in Group D if they can beat 2015 runners-up Juventus in Turin.

After falling to a 2-1 defeat at the Etihad to the Italian champions in their opening match, many would not have predicted that the Citizens would lead the group with two matches remaining.

But late wins over Borussia Mönchengladbach and Sevilla were followed up with an impressive 3-1 victory in Spain last time out, seeing them through to the knockout stage.

Although yet to taste defeat in this season’s competition, Juve have found it difficult to use their European experience to dominate the group, drawing their past two matches against Mönchengladbach and Sevilla respectively.

But despite failing to secure qualification just yet, a point for the Old Lady would see them follow their visitors into the last-16.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side sit third in the Premier League but will be looking to bounce back from their 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool on Saturday.

Meanwhile, after a poor start to their league season, Massimiliano Allegri’s side have won four of their last five Serie A matches to move them up to sixth, nine points behind leaders Inter Milan.

Team News:

Pellegrini has travelled without six first-team players to Turin with Eliaquim Mangala, Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany, Samir Nasri, David Silva and Wilfried Bony all injured.

Juventus have problems of their own though, with Roberto Pereyra, Sami Khedira and Hernanes – who was suspended anyway – all on the sidelines.

Elsewhere, defenders Patrice Evra and Martín Cáceres are a doubts for the two-time winners.
