Manchester United are reportedly strong favourites to land Netherlands international defender Stefan De Vrij, according to the Express.

The Premier League side, who defeated Southampton 3-2 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday evening to lift the 2017 EFL Cup, have been linked with a summer swoop for the Lazio defender.

The 25-year-old, who has 30 international caps for Holland, has scored one goal and provided one assist in 19 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit so far this season.

De Vrij, who began his senior career in his homeland with Feyenoord, before opting to join Lazio back in 2014, is out of contract next summer and has already rejected the chance to extend his deal at the Stadio Olimpico.

The report suggests the Italian outfit are willing to offload the centre-half to The Red Devils for around £30m.

Premier League rivals Chelsea are also interested in the Dutchman’s services, but De Vrij himself has made it clear he would prefer a move to Old Trafford instead.
