League One: Player, Manager and Goal of the Month (February)

Player of the Month: Nicky Ajose (Swindon Town)

Former Manchester United trainee Ajose was in red hot form during February, scoring an incredible six goals in four matches.

Having missing the 1-0 defeat at Port Vale and then failing to score in a goalless draw at Gillingham, Ajose netted a brace in a 4-1 crushing of Colchester. He followed this with a hat-trick in a 3-2 victory over Blackpool, including an 88th-minute winner. He completed the month by netting the equaliser at Peterborough in a game that saw the Robins come from behind to win 2-1.

Ajose’s excellent month catapulted him to the top of League One goalscoring charts alongside Coventry’s Adam Armstrong on 19 goals.

Manager of the Month: John Sheridan (Oldham Athletic)

John Sheridan is hoping to lead Oldham to League One survival.

Latics’ boss Sheridan deserves this award for turning around his side’s form dramatically in February. Though not quite achieving the most points in the month, the run of two wins and three draws has given Oldham a real chance of avoiding relegation to League Two.

Their record looks more impressive when you note that four of their five games were away from home and included a draw at high-flying Wigan, and 2-1 triumph at Peterborough. They also recorded a surprise victory at home to promotion-chasing Gillingham.

Sheridan’s side ended the month unbeaten in seven games and just a win away from escaping the relegation zone.

Goal of the Month: Lee Novak (Gillingham vs CHESTERFIELD)
