Leeds City unveil changing room refurb

Leeds City FC officially unveiled their new changing room pavilion at Adel Sports & Social Club on July 23rd. The project was made possible thanks to a £50,000 grant from the Premier League, through the Football Stadia Improvement Fund.

Funding from the Premier League has enabled Leeds City FC, who play in the Premier Division of the West Yorkshire Association Football League, to reconfigure and refurbish the existing building to create modern, clean and comfortable changing facilities. The facility now comprises two large self-contained changing rooms with shower facilities and a separate officials’ changing room. Previously, home and away teams had to share shower facilities and there were no toilets at all in the away team’s changing accommodation.

The new facilities, completed in time for the start of the 2015-16 season, will enable Leeds City FC to meet all necessary FA Ground Grading Requirements for their current level of play and immediate leagues above.

Funded with £5.2m each year from the Premier League, the FSIF is the country’s largest provider of grants towards projects that help improve the comfort and safety of lower league football grounds in both the professional and amateur game. These improvements range from new football stands and turnstiles to floodlighting and improved provision for disabled supporters.

Mark McFarlane, Chairman, Leeds City FC, said: “In these times when many sports clubs are struggling to survive, it is great to see that bodies, such as the Premier League, are giving a helping hand to clubs who show a willingness to give opportunities to men, women and children to play sport. The new changing facilities can be used by both genders and Leeds City FC, thanks to the generous support of the FSIF, will continue to promote the appropriate standards of both grounds and changing facilities for their football teams.”

Peter McCormick OBE, Chairman of the Football Stadia Improvement Fund, said: “Leeds City FC is a well-run amateur club and I am delighted that funding from the Premier League, through the FSIF, has allowed them to carry out extensive refurbishment works to changing facilities at Adel Sports & Social Club. Players and officials will now be able to change in a safe and comfortable environment and this will help the club grow in size and strength over the coming years. I would like to congratulate all members of the club who have worked so hard to create a sustainable future for Leeds City FC.”
