Leeds United are weighing up a move for Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson.

The 31-year-old has reportedly been transfer listed this summer at St James’ Park following the arrival of new head coach Steve McClaren on Tyneside.

The former Wycombe Wanderers and Portsmouth centre-half scored once in 31 appearances for Newcastle in all competitions last season.

With Anderlecht defender Chancel Mbemba set to re-join former teammate Aleksandar Mitrovic at the club later this month, Williamson is expected to leave St James’ Park before the transfer window closes, with Uwe Rosler’s Leeds waiting in the wings.
