No matter how the season ends for Leeds United, one thing’s for sure, they’ll be few fans at Elland Road unhappy with the way Garry Monk has gone about transforming the club.
The former Swansea City boss has turned Leeds into a much better side than when he took over and despite a recent wobbled which has seen them win just one win in five games and slip out of the play-off places, the manager remains confident his team can make the top six.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s game away at Burton Albion the Leeds boss noted:
“I don’t envisage missing out,” said Monk. “I’ve got full confidence in my players and in what we have been doing here and all the hard work that everyone has done to put us in this position.
“All the hard work and those hours that we have spent on the training ground and with each other is done so that will pay off. “That’s what we trust, that’s what we believe in and that’s what we will go forward with. You will see that in these three games starting on Saturday.”
With Sheffield Wednesday hosting Fulham on the final day of the season, meaning at least one of them is destined to drop points, then Monk knows that should Leeds win their last three games they’re guaranteed a play-off place.
Here’s how Leeds fans on social media have been reacting to Monk’s latest comments:
Playoffs or not I’m grateful to @GarryMonk and his staff for restoring that good feel factor back into our club. #mot #Lufc
