Legendary Premier League striker advises Saints star on dream move

As Southampton move to seven without a win in the Premier League, and six of those losses to boot, sharpshooter Danny Ings has seen himself fall down the top scorer charts side-to-side with a slip down the all-important table. 

Saints are now 14th in the division, while Ings is tied 15th alongside James Maddison on eight goals.

The 28-year-old’s early season form earned him potential suitors from the top sides in England, while a Premier League 100-club striker has advised Ings to take the next step in his career.

Former England player Emile Heskey told HITC: “He would definitely be looking (at a move). He’s been so unlucky with injuries but he’s shown, on many occasions, that he’s got the ability and he can score goals – and different types of goals.”  

“His goal the other day was phenomenal. The technique! He’s got an immense understanding of the game, when he plays upfront with Che Adams, I love it.”

talkSPORT claimed that Tottenham are keen on a £20m move for Ings, whose contract expires next summer – with no signs of a fresh deal on the horizon.

A move to Jose Mourinho’s side could mean a dream partnership with England captain Harry Kane, supported no less by the firing South Korean superstar Son Heung-min .

“When I was playing up front with Michael (Owen) or Robbie (Fowler), we were always looking for each other – it’s all about the link-up,” Heskey added.

“The defensive side of it, he wants to do that as well. He’s a manager’s dream. And now he’s probably saying; ‘I want to win some stuff now, I want to be a major part of a team winning stuff’.”

“(An Ings and Kane partnership) could be exciting. They’ve got Son, who I think is fantastic, but he can play in different positions, he can play on the wings. Kane and Ings are both intelligent footballers, they must have played together with England as well so there must be an understanding,” Heskey adds.

“That would be a great move for him.”

With Heskey scoring over 100 goals in a lengthy Premier League career, he certainly knows one or two about scoring them. Should Ings follow the advice and strike up a lethal partnership with the likes of Kane at Spurs, or is the grass not always greener?
