Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers could break club’s transfer record by signing Youri Tielemans, according to the Mirror.
With transfer fees seeming to rise season-by-season, Brendan Rodgers has hinted that Leicester could be sticking to that trend by signing on-loan Youri Tielemans from his parent club AS Monaco.
Tielemans joined the Foxes in January and has been a revelation for the side, scoring two goals and providing five assists in just ten Premier League appearances.
The Belgium international would likely to cost around the £40million mark, which would far surpass the £29million fee the Midlands club paid for Islam Slimani in 2016.
When speaking to the press yesterday, Rodgers conceded that quality players come at a price.
He said:“The money is going up, absolutely. We shall see. As you know, the numbers go up each year. You pay for quality. The notion has been to bring in a talent and develop them. There is a lot of work going on and a weekly meeting in terms of recruitment.”
Leicester fans will be hoping the club make the 21-year-old a permanent signing, as they move in to their first full season with Rodgers as manager.
