Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has signed a new five-year deal with the Premier League champions.

The Denmark international was an ever-present in the Foxes’ incredible title-winning season – their first in the top-flight in their 132-year history – keeping 15 clean sheets.

On penning his new contract, the stopper told LCFC TV: “We’ve taken some massive steps and ever since I arrived it’s been fantastic.

“I’ve come back absolutely convinced that this is the place for me to be.”

Schmeichel has made 220 appearances in all competitions for the east Midlands outfit since joining them from Leeds United in 2011, having initially started his career at Manchester City.

The new deal is another boost for manager Claudio Ranieri, who says no more Leicester City players will be sold following N’Golo Kante’s £30 million move to Chelsea last month, despite winger Riyad Mahrez continuing to be heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal.
