Leicester are closing in on a deal for Sporting Lisbon striker, Islam Slimani, who is reportedly set to undergo a medical in Italy on Deadline Day to finalise his move to the Premier League champions, according to Guardian journalist, Ed Aarons.

The 28-year-old, who scored 31 goals in 46 appearances for the Portuguese outfit last season, will reportedly break the Foxes record transfer fee, with a £30m deal agreed.

A deal for the striker would see manager Claudio Ranieri breaking the club’s record fee for a third time in one summer, with both Nampalys Mendy and Ahmed Musa surpassing the top deal already in this window.

The Algeria international has also been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Southampton and Everton but now looks set for the King Power ahead of a testing season for Vardy and Co.

Ranieri, as well as holding on to key stars, has been keen to bolster his ranks over the transfer window, with a title defence and a first taste of Champions League football on the horizon.
