Premier League champions Leicester are still in with a chance of reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League after only losing 1-0 to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
Craig Shakespeare’s side would have hoped to at least still be in the tie when the two teams meet at the King Power Stadium next week, and but for an Antoine Griezmann penalty from a dodgy refereeing decision, it may well have been level.
Nonetheless, that 28th minute strike from the France international was the difference between the two sides at the Vicente Calderon on Wednesday, and although Diego Simeone’s men dominated for large periods, they only have the one goal to show for it.
It means that the tie is well poised ahead of the return leg in Leicester next Tuesday, and given that the Foxes have already overturned a deficit against a La Liga side in this competition this term, they will fancy their chances of another scalp at the King Power Stadium.
Unsurprisingly, several Leicester fans took to Twitter to express their views on Wednesday’s encounter, with many pleased at their side’s solid performance against the Spanish giants…
Great performance, professional and gives us a chance, that's all we asked. #LCFC #proud

Would've took 1-0 before the game. Superb defensive performance #lcfc

However, a few bemoaned the decision to award Atletico that first half penalty, given that the foul appeared to have taken place outside the penalty area…
Still very much in the game! Shame such a poor decision from the ref lead to the only goal though #LCFC #AtlLei

Yet another crappy ref decision cost us the game and possibly the tie. #LCFC

Nonetheless, the mood of Leicester fans was positive overall, and one player in particular received much praise after a magnificent display on Wednesday…
Benny was as good today, as poor he was on Sunday. Excellent performance #AtmLei #lcfc #ChampionsLeague

While several supporters have already turned their attentions to next week, and those that have are confident of completing yet another famous comeback…
Judging on Atletico's performance today, I REALLY fancy our chances next week. Us fans will roar the roof off too! #lcfc

Decent enough performance from the lads! Il take that result! Beaten by a poor decision from the ref! But the dream is still alive! #LCFC
