Leicester midfielder, Danny Drinkwater, is set to sign a new £100k-a-week deal with the Foxes this week, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Premier League champions have already tied key players, Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, down with new deals this summer, despite the pair of them being linked with moves to Arsenal.

As well as the star duo, manager Claudio Ranieri, captain Wes Morgan and players Andy King and Ben Chilwell have all put pen to paper at the King Power.

The new deal for the England international will be a welcome boost to the Foxes, having endured a tough start to their title defence.

Ranieri’s men suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to manager-less Hull City on the opening weekend before playing out a 0-0 draw with Arsenal in the late kick-off on Saturday.

As well as extending his stay in Leicester the 26-year-old is reportedly set to be named in Sam Allardyce’s maiden England squad, ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia in September.

Having been left out of Roy Hodgson’s squad for what turned out to be a disastrous Euro 2016 campaign, the former Man United youngster is keen to get involved again, and may look to his assistant manager for a leg-up.

“I’d love to be in the squad, but whether or not I get picked it’s up to the staff there now,” said the midfielder.

“I’m not too sure if Craig Shakespeare being involved will help but if it doesn’t I’ll be having words!”
