South Korea came from behind to defeat Czechia in the second match of the World Cup group stages on Friday morning.
After a goalless first-half Ladislav Krejci had put Czechia in front shortly after the break, before Hwang In-beom levelled things up for the Koreans.
He then turned provider to set up Oh Hyeon-gyu for the winner, providing a huge boost to South Korea’s chances of qualifying for the knockout stages of the competition.
In the wake of the game, though, it has emerged that several Premier League sides are monitoring a star of the South Korean team.
As per TEAMtalk, Liverpool are one of five English top flight clubs keeping tabs on defender Han-beom Lee.
The report suggests that 23-year-old – who currently plays for Danish side FC Midtjylland – has emerged on the radar of several clubs including Liverpool and Leeds United.
Having joined Midtjylland from FC Seoul back in 2023, the central defender has since made more than 60 appearances for his current side across all competitions.
Han-beom made his senior international debut last year and has now been capped nine times.
His performances in Denmark haven’t gone unnoticed, though, and the report claims that scouts from several clubs were in attendance to watch the centre-back during South Korea’s narrow win over Czechia in the early hours of Friday morning.
Brighton and Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Chelsea are all also said to have been monitoring the player’s progress, although it remains to be seen whether of those clubs will formalise their interest.
Han-beom’s contract with Midtjylland is set to run until the end of next season, meaning this summer could represent the Danish side’s last opportunity to cash in on the player and avoid losing him as a free agent next year.
