Premier League duo Liverpool and Manchester City have suffered a huge blow in their chase for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as the forward is set to sign for Paris Saint-Germain, reports talkSPORT.
The 27-year-old has been one of the most prolific strikers in European football over the last few years, having scored a staggering 120 goals in just 189 games for Borussia Dortmund since moving there in the summer of 2013.
And this season was his best in front of goal, with the Gabon international netting 40 goals in just 46 games for Thomas Tuchel’s side, helping them to third place in the Bundesliga, as well as victory in the German Cup, in which he unsurprisingly scored the winner in their 2-1 success over Eintracht Frankfurt in the final.
And the forward’s sensational form over the past few seasons has attracted much interest from around Europe, with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, and Real Madrid all linked with a move for Aubameyang.
However, it looks like they are all going to miss out, with recent reports suggesting that the 27-year-old has agreed a deal with French giants PSG, believed to be worth £61 million.
This is sure to be a big blow for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds and Pep Guardiola’s Citizens, with both men looking to bolster their attacking options next term after qualifying for the Champions League, finishing fourth and third in the Premier League respectively.
However, they will have to look beyond Aubameyang now, with the Gabon star expected to sign for PSG at some stage during the summer.
