Liverpool could lure these 2 Tottenham players to Anfield in January

Liverpool have made an excellent start to their first full season under manager Jurgen Klopp.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss took over from Brendan Rodgers in October last year and, although he led the Reds to two Cup finals, both of which they lost, the Merseyside club finished a frustrating eighth in the Premier League.

However, Klopp’s appointment was met with huge optimism, specifically for his first full season in charge, and this has been somewhat vindicated in the first few months of the campaign.

Liverpool are joint-top of the Premier League after winning seven of their first ten league games, with only goal difference preventing them overtaking Manchester City and Arsenal at the top.

Nonetheless, the Reds have been hugely impressive in the early stages of the campaign and, alongside their run to the League Cup quarter-finals, they look like a real force to be reckoned with this season.

However, Klopp still may feel that he needs more quality in his squad to maintain their title charge, and could look at other Premier League players in a bid to bolster his ranks.

Thus, here are TWO Tottenham players he could lure to Anfield in January…

Ben Davies

Liverpool have been struggling with their left-back options this season and, although James Milner has deputised well in that position this campaign, it’s unlikely that he’ll keep that level of performance up for the whole season.

Alberto Moreno, albeit decent against Crystal Palace last weekend, has proved to be too inconsistent to be trusted in that role, so Klopp could look to bring in another left-back during January.

One he should keep his eye on is Tottenham’s Ben Davies.

The Welsh international was sensational for his country in their run to the Euro 2016 semi-finals and, when he has appeared for Spurs this season, he’s maintained that level of performance.

However, with Danny Rose ahead of him in the pecking order, it’s going to be difficult for Davies to nail down a regular starting berth, so he might be interested in moving if he’s guaranteed first team football somewhere else.

One club that could offer him that are Liverpool, and Klopp should consider a move for the 23-year-old in January.

Tom Carroll

Although he probably wouldn’t start for Liverpool, Tom Carroll would bolster Klopp’s midfield options at Anfield.

The 24-year-old has only made three appearances for Spurs this season – the last of which was at Anfield in the League Cup last week.

The young midfielder is unlikely to break into the Tottenham starting eleven any time soon, especially now they are out of the League Cup, so could look for a move away in January to get more first team opportunities.

With Lucas’ contract set to expire at the end of the season, Klopp may need more options in midfield to complement Jordan Henderson, and Carroll could do a job alongside the England international.

He retains the ball well and can attack as well as he can defend, but is also very agile and energetic, something Klopp demands of his players.

It could be a move worth considering in January.
