Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool will hope to continue their flawless start to the new campaign when they host Burnley on September 14.
Arne Slot’s side are the only top flight team to have won all three of their matches so far this term and therefore sit top of the pile ahead of a trip to Turf Moor.
The Reds cruised to the title last term during Slot’s first year in charge, and the Dutchman will fancy his side’s chances of defending their crown after a summer of unprecedented spending.
Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike are among those to have joined Slot’s attack, while full-backs Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez also joined Liverpool.
In the wake of the window, it has emerged that one member of Slot’s squad came close to leaving the club during the recent transfer window.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Joe Gomez came close to joining fellow Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion this summer.

Gomez, 28, joined the Reds from Charlton Athletic back in 2015 and has since made more than 240 appearances for the Merseyside giants across all competitions.
The versatile defender, who can play as a central defender or at right-back, has struggled with injuries in recent seasons and has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter over a prolonged period of time at Anfield.
Last term the England international started just six of Liverpool’s 38 Premier League games as they won the top flight title, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate often preferred by Slot.
The Englishman’s contract with Liverpool is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 season, but it appears that his decade-long spell with the Reds almost came to an end during the recent window.
