Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has been linked with a permanent move away from Anfield this summer, with both Southampton and Napoli expressing an interest.
The 27-year-old French international was sent out on loan in the January transfer window to Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace, and in the three games Sakho has started for the Eagles, they have won all three and kept three clean sheets along the way.
And with over 50 Premier League appearances for the Reds since his move to Merseyside in 2013, the centre-back has a decent amount of experience to call upon, and would certainly help a Saints side who lost captain Jose Fonte in January to West Ham, and face the prospect of losing Virgil van Dijk in the summer.
The Dutch international, currently out injured after suffering a nasty ankle injury against Leicester in January, has been linked with a whole host of top English clubs over the season, one of which was Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.
And this got many Liverpool fans thinking about the potential Sakho to Southampton move, with several demanding that the Reds hierarchy include van Dijk in any deal they two sides strike up…
If Southampton do want sakho, and we don't use VVD as part of the deal it will be so much like the Suarez deal. Big chance missed #LFC

Surely if Southampton are interested in Sakho & we are interested in VVD, a deal can be done. The player has to be convinced, but let's try

#LFC Not sure why we wouldn't give Soton cash plus Sakho for VD if their interest in Sakho is true.

If we sell Sakho to Southampton and don't get VVD. It's like selling Suarez to Barcelona without getting alexis Sanchez. Same mistake. #LFC

And it’s fair to say that Sakho’s Liverpool exploits haven’t had the desired effect on these few Reds supporters…
Southampton want Sakho for £20m!!! SELL SELL SELL #lfc
