Liverpool travel to Stoke City this afternoon (3pm kick-off) needing a win to consolidate their position in the Premier League’s top four.
Jurgen Klopp’s men could only manage a 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth on Wednesday night, a result which saw their lead over fifth place Arsenal reduce to six points after they beat West Ham 3-0 on the same day.
And with Arsene Wenger’s men having two games in hand on the Reds, it’s hugely important that the Merseyside club continue to pick up points and put the pressure on the teams below them, starting with a positive result at Stoke today.
Klopp’s men are unbeaten in their last five league matches, dating back to their 3-1 loss at champions Leicester on February 27, yet several Liverpool fans don’t appear to be overly confident ahead of this afternoon’s clash at the bet365 Stadium, especially now the team news has been announced.
Both Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are on the bench, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ben Woodburn deputising in their absence, while there is also no place in the starting eleven for striker Daniel Sturridge.
And it’s team news that hasn’t gone down especially well with several Reds supporters on Twitter…
