Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday knowing that a point will be enough to secure a second Premier League title.

Few people expected Arne Slot’s side to challenge for the title in his debut season in charge, but the Reds have been I’m imperious form for much of the domestic campaign and currently boast a 12-point lead at the top of the table.

With just five matches remaining, Liverpool need just a single point to secure the trophy for just the second time in the club’s history.

Regardless of their impending title success, Slot and those in charge of the club are likely to want to bolster his squad this summer.

Now, it appears that the Merseyside club are in a commanding position in the race to land a highly-rated defender.

According to TBR Football, Liverpool are now considered to be the favourites to sign Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen this summer.

Huijsen, 20 is enjoying a fine debut campaign on the south coast, having joined the Cherries from Juventus last year.

Van Dijk has recently committed his future to Liverpool

He has featured 31 times in total for Andoni Iraola’s side, scoring on two occasions.

The Spaniard’s impressive displays haven’t gone unnoticed, though, and the report suggests that Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United are all also interested in signing him this summer.

It is Liverpool who are currently regarded as being in pole position to agree a deal, though, as Slot looks to add to his defensive options following the news that Virgil van Dijk will be staying put beyond this summer.

The report also claims that, while Huijsen is likely to stay in the Premier League if he does depart Bournemouth, a move to Europe cannot be discounted with both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich showing interest in the youngster.

Huijsen was handed his senior debut for Spain during a 2-2 draw against The Netherlands in March.
