Liverpool given Timo Werner transfer boost as Bayern Munich cool their interest in the striker, according to The Mirror

Bayern Munich were seen as slight favourites to secure the RB Leipzig striker, but reports suggest Niko Kovac’s side are focussing their attention on Leroy Sane.

This sudden change of heart has opened the door for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp to make a move for the pacy 23-year-old.

Jurgen Klopp keeps a keen-eye on German football.

Liverpool have very recent transfer history with Leipzig, having signed Naby Keita from the German outfit last summer. But The Mirror suggest the £50million asking price could be a potential stumbling block.

With the formidable trio of Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino supported by the back-up of Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri and Adam Lallana some Liverpool fans may feel they don’t need to pursue Werner.

But Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is always keeping a close watch on the goings-on in his native country and clearly feels Werner can be a big boost to his squad.
