Liverpool will be hoping to keep alive their slim chances of qualifying for the Champions League when they face West Ham United on Wednesday.

The Reds travel to The London Stadium with a nine point gap between themselves and fourth-placed Manchester United.

They will face a Hammers side that look to have moved clear of the threat of relegation in recent weeks, although David Moyes’ side will still be looking to move a step closer to guaranteed safety.

In the meantime, Liverpool have reportedly entered into the race to sign one of Europe’s most talented teenagers.

According to Football Insider, the Merseyside outfit have sent scouts to watch Benfica youngster Antonio Silva.

The 19-year-old has been in sensational form so far this season, making 40 appearances across all competitions.

His form hasn’t gone unnoticed, though, and Liverpool are now said to be watching the defender ahead of potentially making an offer this summer.

Silva has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in England

Silva is said to have a release clause of £77 million included in his current contract with Benfica, which is set to run until 2027.

The Portuguese top flight leaders would therefore be in a strong negotiating position if they were to receive any offers for Silva, but the report claims that there could be a huge battle to sign the defender this summer.

Both Manchester City and Manchester United are also said to be interested in the defender, who hadn’t made a senior appearance for Benfica prior to this season.

Liverpool will reportedly prioritise central midfield and their backline during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Klopp’s side have endured a difficult campaign so far this term, and the German will likely want to bolster his squad in a bid to ensure that they are once again competitive next term.
