Liverpool are reportedly considering a January swoop for Iran international forward Sardar Azmoun, according to The Guardian.

The Premier League side, who climbed to the top of the English top-flight standings at the weekend after their 6-1 thrashing of Watford at Anfield, have been linked with a move for the FC Rostov striker ahead of the new year period.

The 21-year-old, who has scored an impressive 16 goals in 24 international caps for his country, has netted four goals and provided two assists in 19 appearances in all competitions for the Russian Premier Liga outfit so far this season.

However Azmoun, who has also played for Rubin Kazan, is also said to be attracting interest from fellow Premier League sides Everton and Stoke City.

The report suggests Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is monitoring the Rostov star after injury has already curtailed fellow forward Danny Ings’ 2016/17 season, whilst winger Sadio Mane has been ruled out until 2017.
