Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard joins in social media game by naming his World XI, according to SkySports

The difficult task which has done the rounds on social media has got everyone thinking.

The job at hand is to name your best XI players but the catch is they have to have played in your lifetime, can not have played for the same club and all be from different countries.

Easier said than done, and Liverpool legend Gerrard gave it his best shot when speaking to old club mate Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports.

Here’s Gerrard’s team…

Goalkeeper – Oblak

Highly considered as one of the best goalkeepers in the world at this time, Oblak was a pretty good first pick from Gerrard. Currently playing for Atletico Madrid where his defence make up a very successful back five.

Defenders – Cafu Kompany, Kouliabaly, Robertson

What a back four that would be! Of course Gerrard had to include at least one Liverpool player in his team and that came in the way of the tireless Andy Robertson. He’s also plumped for a very strong pairing of Vincent Kompany and Kalidou Kouliably, with the legend that is Cafu flying down the right.

Holding Midfielders – Keane, Kroos

With so many great nations and teams taken already, Gerrard’s job is getting more and more difficult but he still managed to name a world-class midfield. Man United captain and serial winner Roy Keane sits alongside Toni Kroos in a midfield that would very rarely lose possession.

Attacking Midfielders – Messi, Del Pierro, Mbappe

The Champions League midfielder went for a 4-2-3-1 formation, which enabled him to name this sparkling trio in attack. Lionel Messi is surely a must in any of these teams? And youngster Kylian Mbappe is certainly already good enough to be mentioned alongside these names. Finally the legend that is Alessandro Del Pierro has also been named.

Striker – Drogba

Leaving a lone striker, Gerrard has named a Chelsea hall-of-famer who could certainly lead the line on his own. ex-Chelsea superstar Didier Drogba spent many years in the Premier League frightening defenders.
