Liverpool lock eyes on Chelsea’s defensive transfer target

Liverpool are have reportedly joined Chelsea in the running to sign Cameroon international Nicolas N’Koulou.

The Premier League outfit, who are currently tenth in the table under new boss Jurgen Klopp, are plotting a January move for Marseille’s star defender.

The 25-year-old, who is out of contract next summer, has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit so far this season.

Centre-half N’Koulou, who could leave the French club as a free agent at the end of the 2015-16 campaign, is also understood to have been scouted by defending Premier League champions Chelsea this term.

With 66 international caps to his name; N’Koulou has put several top European clubs on high alert ahead of the January transfer window regarding his availability, with Reds boss Klopp reportedly eager to bring him to Anfield in the New Year.
