Liverpool continue their pre-season preparations with a game against Italian giants AC Milan in Hong Kong on July 26.

Arne Slot’s side defeated Championship outfit Preston North End 3-1 in their first friendly of the summer at Deepdale on Saturday, with Conor Bradley, Darwin Nunez and Cody gap all on target.

After facing Milan, the Reds will travel to Japan for a match against Yokohama F. Marinos, before returning to England to host Athletic Bilbao at Anfield.

Slot’s side then begin their season by facing Crystal Palace in the Community Shield at Wembley, before hosting Bournemouth in the first game of the new Premier League campaign.

In the meantime, it has emerged that Liverpool have made a shock move to sign one of the Premier League’s most talented players.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the Merseyside giants have made an approach to sign Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak.

Ornstein claims that, while the Reds have not made a formal bid for the Swedish striker, they have made clear their interest in signing the striker.

Isak, 25, joined the Magpies from Spanish side Real Sociedad in 2022 and has since scored 62 goals in 109 games for the North East side across all competitions, as well as registering 11 assists.

Last term the Swedish attacker scored 23 goals in 34 Premier League games to help Eddie Howe’s side record a fifth-placed finish and qualify for next term’s Champions League.

Despite their interest, Liverpool are said to be well aware that Newcastle’s stance remains that Isak is not for sale, with the Sweden international valued at a staggering £120 million by his current employers.

The forward is also under contract at St. James’ Park until the end of the 202728 campaign, which puts the Magpies in a commanding position.
