Liverpool will likely b e busy during this summer’s transfer window as they look to retain their Premier League title next term.

The Reds have already added Jeremie Frimpong to Arne Slot’s squad, with Trent Alexander-Arnold departing to join Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have signed contract extensions in recent months, which will also boost Liverpool’s chances of lifting the top flight trophy once again next season.

Now, though, it has emerged that one of Slot’s midfielders could be on his way to Italy.

As per Football Insider, midfielder Harvey Elliott is likely to move to Serie A if he departs Anfield this summer.

The 22-year-old joined the Reds from Fulham back in 2019 and spent time on loan at Championship side Blackburn Rovers before returning and forcing his way into the first team at Liverpool.

Elliott has now played 147 times for the Merseyside giants across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and registering 20 assists.

Last season he featured 18 times in the Premier League for Slot’s side, as they lifted the top flight title.

It is claimed that the Englishman refused a proposed move to Nottingham Forest last week, but there is said to be growing belief that he will leave Anfield prior to the start of next season.

Liverpool’s coaches are said to be of the view that the midfielder lacks the intensity to fit into Slot’s system, meaning he may never be a guaranteed starter at Anfield.

Two of Italy’s biggest clubs are said to be showing interest in Elliott, while unnamed clubs in the German Bundesliga are also credited with an interest.

Elliott has been capped 22 times by England Under-21s, scoring nine times, but he is yet to be called up to the senior side.
