Liverpool Predicted XI: We predict Jurgen Klopp’s starting XI as his side host Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League this evening.

Manager Klopp will be hoping his side can bounce back from their last Premier League outing, a disappointing draw at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Depending on the result of the north London derby, the Reds could have the chance to return to the top of the table if they take all three points at Anfield this evening.

Once again, Klopp will have to manage the injury problems throughout his squad and the much talked about, heavy fixture load he believes his side has suffered.

On the other side of the field it’s been a tough week for Wolverhampton Wanderers, learning the news about their star striker Raul Jimenez suffered a sickening fractured skull last weekend.

Klopp’s men will have to forget about that sad news and focus on the match. So which players will the Reds chief pick to beat Wolves?

Here we predict the Liverpool’s starting XI…

Goalkeeper:

With Liverpool’s number one again out with injury, Klopp will call on the skills of Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who is coming off the back of the impressive midweek clean sheet at home to Ajax in the Champions League. Klopp has full trust in his number two and has even hinted that he could compete with Alisson.

Defenders:

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been nearing a return from injury and will be hoping to start this match.  Joel Matip should return to the Premier League starting XI too, having played midweek. Matip will be paired alongside makeshift centre back Fabinho with Andrew Robertson given the daunting task of defending against Wolves’ flying winger Adama Traore.

Midfielders:

Summer signing Thiago Alcantara returning to the squad will be a boost for Klopp, but we don’t expect the Spaniard to start. But given the absentees of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, it’s good news for Liverpool fans. Klopp has limited options in midfield so we expect to see captain Jordan Henderson alongside his trusted partner Gini Wijnaldum with Roberto Firmino just in front of them in a more attacking role.

Forwards:

Sadio Mane was given a rest at Brighton on Saturday last weekend, appearing as only a second half substitute. The Senegalese star will return to the XI for this one to take his place in attack alongside fellow star teammate Mohamed Salah. With Firmino going back into the 10, the in-form Curtis Jones will look to carry on where he left off, having score in the  Champions League midweek. Diogo Jota is available and will be desperate to play against his old side, but we expect Klopp to take as little risks as possible, with such a depleted squad.

Predicted Liverpool XI vs Wolves: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Matip, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Firmino; Salah, Mane, Jones.
