Liverpool Predicted XI: Who will make Liverpool’s first XI of the new season as they face up against newly-promoted Leeds United?

There’s just 24 hours to go until the new Premier League season kicks off and current champions Liverpool face a mouth-watering clash against newcomers Leeds United.

The two clubs have a lot of history in this competition and were involved in some classic matches at the turn of the 21st Century.

Fast forward to the present day and these two clubs have very different aspirations this season with Leeds looking to find their feet in the top flight once again and Liverpool gunning to retain their title.

But will Jurgen Klopp stick with the majority of the starting XI which one him the club’s first top division title in 30 years?

Here we predict Liverpool’s starting XI…

Goalkeeper:

The first name on the team sheet for Klopp will likely to be Alisson. The goalkeeper hardly put a foot wrong last campaign and will be again expecting to keep to his high levels. His distribution is excellent but most importantly for the Reds he seems to make save after save.

Defenders:

Having made no summer signings thus far, Klopp will be expected to start the back four who served him so well last season. The imperious full back duo of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will start on either flank with club talisman Virgil van Dijk partnering Joe Gomez in the hear of the defence.

Midfielders:

It seems that midfield could be the area Klopp decides to strengthen this window, with the signing of Champions League winner Thiago being rumoured from Bayern Munich. For now though, we expect Klopp to start with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson in the holding role with Georginio Wijnaldum expected to get from box to box.

Forwards:

The front three of Liverpool’s is one of the most feared in the division and rightly so. Goals and assists come in bundles from all three. Sadio Mane was the man on fire last year and will be oping to start where he left off with Mo Salah not shy of a goal. That leaves Roberto Firmino to create space and link up with his world-class team mates.

Predicted XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Salah,
