Liverpool Predicted XI: Who will make Liverpool’s starting XI this afternoon as they face their first big test of the season, away at Chelsea

Despite their good form, United have a long way to go to bridge the gap to Jurgen Klopp's side.

Liverpool Predicted XI: Who will make Liverpool’s starting XI this afternoon as they face their first big test of the season, away at Chelsea.

After a pulsating start to the Premier League campaign last weekend, which saw Liverpool overcome Leeds United 4-3, Jurgen Klopp will be hoping to gain all three points today.

His Reds face a Chelsea side glittered with talent and with a point to prove following a busy summer of signings. Frank Lampard and his team will be very motivated for this afternoon’s encounter.

But will Jurgen Klopp stick with the majority of the starting XI which won him the club’s first top division title in 30 years?

Here we predict Liverpool’s starting XI…

Goalkeeper:

The first name on the team sheet for Klopp will likely to be Alisson. Despite conceding three agains Leeds United last week, the goalkeeper hardly put a foot wrong last campaign and will be again expecting to keep to his high levels. His distribution is excellent but most importantly for the Reds he seems to make save after save.

Defenders:

Having made no summer signings thus far in defence, Klopp will be expected to start the back four who served him so well last season. The imperious full back duo of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson will start on either flank with club talisman Virgil van Dijk partnering Joe Gomez in the heart of the defence. The Reds made some key errors at the back last week, which they will have to cut out this afternoon.

Midfielders:

With the signing of Thiago this week, Klopp has given his midfield a huge boost. The Spaniard is unlikely to start today, but it will give the other players welcome pressure to perform. We expect Klopp to stick with the midfield pair of Jordan Henderson, Giorgino Winaldum, but we expect Naby Keita to be replaced by the more defensive-minded Fabinho.

Forwards:

The front three of Liverpool’s is one of the most feared in the division and rightly so. Goals and assists come in bundles from all three. Salah will be hoping to build on his hat-trick last ween and Sadio Mane was the man on fire last year and will be hoping to start where he left off. That leaves Roberto Firmino to create space and link up with his world-class team mates.

Predicted XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Salah
