Liverpool completed the signing of exciting winger Luis Diaz the day before Deadline Day but a move 24hrs later didn’t quite go to plan.
The Reds were trying to capture the signature of Fulham star Fabio Carvalho before running out of time to complete the deal.
However, Sky Sports report that the Anfield club ‘remain confident’ of getting their man.
It’s claimed that discussions will continue as Liverpool aim to reach a compensation agreement with Fulham as Carvalho’s deal expires in the summer.
If an agreement can’t be reached then a tribunal will set the fee just like they did when Harvey Elliot made the same move in 2019.
Carvalho has been with Fulham since 2014 and has made 18 appearances this term after making his senior debut in September 2020.
The England youth international’s form, which has seen him score seven goals and four assists this term, also earned him the EFL Young Player of the Month award in August.
