Crystal Palace are reportedly set to re-sign France international defender Mamadou Sakho for £25m, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League side, who sit second-bottom of the top-flight table having lost all three of their opening fixtures, have been linked with luring the Liverpool centre-half back to Selhurst Park on a permanent deal before the close of the summer transfer window on Thursday (23:00).

The 27-year-old, who has 28 international caps for his country, has failed to appear for The Reds so far this season, with Jurgen Klopp insisting he is surplus to requirements on Merseyside.

Sakho, who joined Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain back in September 2013 for a reported £18m, joined Palace on loan for the remainder of the 2016-17 campaign back in January.

The Frenchman made eight appearances in all competitions for The Eagles, helping the club stave off relegation from the Premier League, before injury curtailed his term early.

However, the report suggests Palace are close to re-signing Sakho on a permanent deal for £25m.

His sale would rubberstamp Liverpool’s 13th summer transfer this window, having brought in three players so far – Mohamed Salah (AS Roma), Dominic Solanke (Chelsea) and Andrew Robertson (Hull City).
