Premier League champions Liverpool suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds were crowned champions last weekend after a 5-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur, but they fell behind early on in West London when Enzo Fernandez opened the scoring.

Jarell Quansah then put through his own net to double the hosts’ advantage, before Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk pulled one back.

Cole Palmer then ended his goal scoring drought by converting a penalty to secure all three points for the Blues.

The result moves Chelsea into fifth place in the top flight standings, and keeps alive their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next term.

Liverpool, meanwhile, will hope to return to winning ways when they face Arsenal next time out.

In the meantime, Football Insider claims that Trent Alexander-Arnold is still set to depart Anfield this summer despite recent speculation.

Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer

The right-back’s contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign and he has been heavily linked with a move away from the club.

Recently, however, it has been rumoured that the England international may make a shock u-turn and decide to stay put on Merseyside.

According to the report, however, the 26-year-old will still leave Liverpool when his contract expires this summer.

Alexander-Arnold is a product of the Reds’ youth system and has now played more than 350 times for the club across all competitions, scoring 23 goals and providing 92 assists.

It is claimed that the player is set to join Spanish giants Real Madrid, and he is expected to announce his next move in the near future.

The report also suggests that Liverpool may have to replace the Englishman in the transfer window, amid concerns over Conor Bradley’s injury record.
