Premier League champions Liverpool host second-placed leaders Arsenal in an intriguing clash on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides have won each of their two matches so far this season, with the Gunners sitting second while the Reds occupy fourth spot.

Arne Slot will have been pleased with his side’s start to the season, although he will be wary that the Merseyside giants have surrendered two-goal leads in each of their matches.

Away from the action, it appears that one of Slot’s players is being prevented from leaving Anfield due to his salary expectations.

According to CaughtOffside, forward Federico Chiesa has attracted interest from clubs in Italy but his wage demands have prevented any club from pursuing a move.

The report claims that Serie A sides Napoli, Atalanta, AC Milan and Roma have all shown interest in the 27-year-old, however his wages – coupled with Liverpool’s price tag – have prevented a move from coming to fruition.

Chiesa joined the Reds from Italian giants Juventus back in the summer of 2024 but played a bit-part role for Slot’s side during his debut campaign in England.

In total he scored twice in 14 games across all competitions, but he started just one of their 38 Premier League games.

It is claimed that the Italy international – who scored during a 4-2 win over Bournemouth on the opening night of the Premier League season – is not pushing for a move away from Merseyside despite his lack of playing time.

Instead, the forward is said to be keen to stay put at Anfield and push for a regular starring spot in Slot’s side.

The Italian is under contract at Liverpool until the end of the 2027/28 season.
