Premier League champions Liverpool will hope to continue their perfect record so far this season when they face Burnley on Sunday.
The Reds have started the defence of their top flight crown with three straight victories, including a narrow 1-0 win against title challengers Arsenal last time out.
Arne Slot will be pleased with his side’s start to the new campaign, and he will want to pick up all three points from their visit to Turf Moor.
New signing Alexander Isak could be in line to make his Liverpool debut against the Clarets, having signed for a British record transfer fee from Newcastle United on deadline day.
Now, though, it has emerged that another player that the Reds came close to signing is attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
According to Spanish outlet Sport via TBR Football, both Barcelona and Real Madrid are showing some form of interest in Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
The England international was a target for Liverpool for much of the summer, and the Reds had agreed a deal to sign the centre-back for a fee of £35 million.
That deal fell through in the final hours of the window, though, meaning Guehi will stay at Selhurst Park at least until January.
It is claimed that the 25-year-old is ‘on the radar’ of Barcelona, while their La Liga rivals Real Madrid are ‘monitoring’ the Englishman.
Having joined Palace from Chelsea in 2021, Guehi has now made more than 160 appearances for the south London side across all competitions.
His current contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and it did initially appear that the Eagles were keen to cash in on the player this summer, before the London side pulled out of a proposed deal.
