Liverpool transfer target Marco Asensio has threatened to quit Real Madrid, according to Diario Gol.

The Premier League side, who lost 3-1 to the La Liga giants in the UEFA Champions League final only last month, have been continuously linked with a move for the Spain international forward.

The 22-year-old, who has 12 international caps for his country, scored 11 goals and provided six assists in 53 appearances in all competitions for Madrid last season.

Asensio, who arrived at the Bernabeu back in December 2014 following his move from Mallorca, has netted 21 times in 91 games overall for the Spanish giants.

The report suggests the winger is considering leaving the Bernabeu, should Madrid look to pull off a mega money deal to sign former FC Barcelona star Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.

Asensio, who is contracted at the club until June 2023 and valued at £67.5m, started just 19 La Liga fixtures under former manager Zinedine Zidane last campaign, as he battles the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Isco for a starting XI place.

The report adds Liverpool have enquired numerous times about the Spaniard’s availability, whilst PSG and Juventus also hold an initial interest.
