While the World Cup is well underway in North America, back in England Premier League clubs are working hard in the transfer market.

All 20 Premier League sides are likely to be busy in the market in the coming weeks, with the window having officially opened on Monday.

With that in mind, it appears that Liverpool have had a huge offer for an in-demand attacker rejected.

According to Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the Reds have had an opening offer of around £86 million for winger Yan Diomande rejected by German side RB Leipzig.

Diomande, 19, joined the Bundesliga outfit from Spanish minnows Leganes last summer, having impressed during his time in Spain.

Since then, the Ivory Coast international has enjoyed a meteoric rise in Germany, scoring 13 goals and providing ten assists in 36 games across all competitions during his debut season with the club.

The teenager’s impressive form in Germany earned him a senior international debut for Ivory Coast in October last year, and the winger was then included in their squad for the World Cup this summer.

Diomande played in their 1-0 win over Ecuador in the opening round of matches, and will also likely start against Germany on Saturday.

According to Plettenberg, Liverpool’s opening offer for the winger consisted of an initial fee of around ££78 million plus a further £8.6 million in add-ons.

RB Leipzig are said to be aware of interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain, but the Bundesliga outfit are not willing to let the player leave and will only accept a huge offer.

The German side are also keen to negotiate an improved contract with the player, which could also include a release clause, according to the report.
