Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Switzerland international defender Fabian Schar, according to the Daily Star.
However the Premier League side, who currently sit fourth in the English top-flight standings following Monday night’s 0-0 draw against rivals Manchester United at Anfield, may have to wait until next summer if they wish to land the Hoffenheim centre-half.
The 24-year-old, who has 27 international caps for his country and starred for Switzerland at this year’s European Championships in France, has provided one assist in four appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.
Schar, who is valued at around £9m, was scouted by Reds officials during Switzerland’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Hungary and Andorra.
However, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp might have to wait until next summer to land the Swiss star, as Hoffenheim are desperate to keep hold of the key player and are unwilling to sell during the forthcoming January transfer window.
