Manchester City are weighing up a move for Everton defender Mason Holgate, according to reports.

The 23-year-old has made 20 Premier League appearances for the Toffees this term having reestablished himself in the first-team squad after spending the second half of last term on loan at West Bromwich Albion.

However, the Mirror report that Carlo Ancelotti could face a fight to keep hold of the former England Under-21 international who’s attracting interest from City.

It’s claimed that the Citizens could launch a £30million bid for Holgate as they look to add to their defensive ranks.

Aymeric Laporte has had his injury troubles this term while Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones have not always been in favour.

Laporte picked up another injury against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

This has often see Pep Guardiola choose to play midfielder Fernandinho in central defence.
