Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is set to sign a new long-term deal with the club, according to The Sun.

Since moving from Borussia Dortmund in 2016, the Germany international has established himself as a key member of Pep Guardiola’s squad.

The 28-year-old’s current contract at the Etihad still has a year-and-a-half to run until the summer of 2020.

But his performances, plus speculation linking him with Ajax, has seen the champions come forward with an offer which sees a significant increase on his £90,000-per-week salary.

Gundogan has 29 caps for Germany.

A City source told The Sun: Ilkay expects to be given and will sign a new contract. There is interest elsewhere but he is happy here.

There’s a busy period coming up so it will all happen after that. Ilkay doesn’t expect much to change and he loves it here.

Gundogan has scored 12 times in 74 matches for the side he’s won the Premier League, EFL Cup and Community Shield with.
