Manchester United could consider swapping Cristiano Ronaldo for Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, according to reports.

As per The Times, the La Liga side are keen on landing the Portuguese, and are willing to throw in a player to sweeten the deal for The Red Devils.

Ronaldo has made no secret of his desire to leave Old Trafford this summer, but United have so far stood firm on their stance, insisting that the forward will not be sold.

In the wake of their 4-0 defeat to Brentford, though, it appears that Erik ten Hag is now considering letting the Portugal international leave, and Atletico are one of the clubs interested.

The report claims that the La Liga side would be willing to include either Morata or teammate Antoine Griezmann in a potential swap deal.

Morata could be on his way to Manchester

Ex-Chelsea star Morata has spent the past two seasons on loan at Italian side Juventus, but scored twice in Atletico’s La Liga opener against Getafe on Monday.

Griezmann also scored in that game, but it is claimed that the Spanish side would be willing to let either player leave if it increased their chances of landing Ronaldo.

When news initially broke of their interest in the 37-year-old, Atletico received severe backlash from supporters, who were against the idea of the former Real Madrid man signing for the club.

It appears that this hasn’t affected their plans, though, as they are still interested in signing the United striker.
