Manchester United boss Michael Carrick will be working hard behind the scenes to finetune his squad before the start of the new season.

The former England international took temporary charge of the Red Devils in January following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, and oversaw an impressive run throughout the second half of the season that culminated in qualification for the Champions League.

Carrick was then rewarded by being appointed as United’s head coach on a permanent basis last month, and the Englishman will likely want to make changes to his squad before the start of the new campaign.

In the meantime, it appears that United have decided against pursuing a move for a highly-rated defender from the German top flight.

As per TEAMtalk, the Red Devils have pulled out of a possible move to sign Eintracht Frankfurt full-back Nathaniel Brown.

The report claims that United are not willing to enter into a bidding war for the 22-year-old, who instead looks set to complete a move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Brown joined Frankfurt from fellow German side FC Nuremberg in 2024 and has since made 75 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring seven goals and registering 13 assists.

The Germany international has more than four years remaining on his current contract with Frankfurt, but the report suggests that Bayern look set to sign the player this summer.

United were said to be on the hunt to sign a left-back to provide competition for places with Luke Shaw, but the Premier League side have now pulled out of the race to land the player.

Bayern are set to complete the signing of Brown for a fee in the region of £52 million, according to the report.
