Manchester United won’t compete in Europe this season after a disastrous campaign last term.

The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League table and – after losing against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League Final in Bilbao – failed to qualify for any European competition.

Ruben Amorim may only have taken charge of United in November, but the Portuguese already finds himself under pressure to turn his side’s fortunes around after a disappointing first six months in charge.

United have already signed forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves this summer, but it has now emerged that they are unlikely to move for another player that they have been heavily linked with.

According to GiveMeSport, the Manchester giants are unlikely to pursue a move for striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin due to concerns about his injury record.

The 28-year-old is a free agent at present after departing Everton at the end of June, and United had been linked with a move for the player.

According to the report, however, United only entered into initial discussions about a possible deal before deciding against the idea, citing concerns about Calvert-Lewin’s injury history.

The Englishman scored 71 goals in 273 games for the Toffees during his time on Merseyside, but also missed more than 90 matches due to injury during his time with the club.

It is claimed that the striker was offered to United as the Red Devils hunt for attacking reinforcements, but the club have decided not to pursue a move for the player.

Calvert-Lewin has scored four times in 11 games for England on the international stage, but hasn’t been capped by the Three Lions since Euro 2020.

The forward is now without a club after the expiry of his previous contract with Everton, which was believed to earn him around £100,000-per-week.
